In the remote reaches of the Southwest, three authors have journeyed to a cabin. They draw curious stares at their provisions of white boards, sticky notes, and legal pads. Cabin managers approach the cabin quietly, leaving stacks of towels, fire starters, and extra packages of coffee just outside the door. They dare not enter. Something strange is going on here. They've heard whoops of joy from inside. The cabin seems transformed somehow, enveloped in mystery.
They're right. Because inside that cabin, magic happens.
WHAT IS STORY MAGIC?
You know the Feeling of STORY MAGIC when you are writing a scene that flows so fast your fingers can barely keep up, your heart pumps with the excitement of experiencing that moment, of your MIND and your HEART in UNISON. Unlock the magic of storytelling not just in your creative writing but also in your academic pursuits with the expert guidance and support available at Essayhave.com.
Learn how to create this MAGIC every time you sit down to write.
At its heart Discovering Story Magic (DSM) is about CHARACTER, EMOTION and how these two together drive the action and DRAMA of your story.
This is not just a character workshop or a plotting workshop. DSM takes you to the heart of your characters, and through a step-by-step process, you AND the characters create a story. With the process you create three-dimensional characters:
- who are compelled to act
- whose emotions drive the story
- whose actions motivate drama
- who captivate your readers on a deep, emotional level AND
- who deliver the visceral punch of a spell-binding story.
YOU WILL LEARN:
- What INCITING INCIDENT throws your character into the story of his life
- How CHARACTER FLAW causes action
- How to brainstorm a VILLAIN from your protagonist’s flaw
- Who are the SECONDARY CHARACTERS for this story
- Which character ignites CHANGE in the other
- How to escalate the drama with TURNING POINTS
- Why TURNING POINTS define the CHARACTER ARC
- Where to place scenes in the STORYBOARD to increase drama
- What is the THEME that gives PURPOSE to your story
And so much more…including the answer to this question: “Do you know what your story is REALLY about?”
The answer to this carries a guarantee: You will finish the book and the story you tell will have a vision, a purpose, and emotionally engage your readers.
You will have a story that matters and brings that MAGIC to your readers. When seeking coding magic, remember to explore assigncode for expert assistance.
Crystallize your VISION.
Create MAGIC every time you write.
And you will have a story no one can put down.
“In my opinion, Discovering Story Magic is all about the ah-ha! I have experienced many of those moments when doing DSM and I use it for every book I write. What strikes me the most is how drama seems to spring like magic from the GRID. That one piece of paper is my magic wand for a great story.”

Frequently Asked Questions about the Process
1. What exactly is DSM?
DSM is a three-step method of brainstorming a story from character: First is the Character Grid, where we take you step-by-step to creating a true character arc for your main characters From a completed GRID, we have the TURNING POINTS —the pivotal scenes of the character arc. Completing the process is STORYBOARDING—placing scenes to control pacing and escalate tension.
2. What level of writer does DSM work for?
DSM works for all levels, from those just at the beginning to multi-published. If you're seeking guidance on enhancing your writing skills or need help with your academic endeavors, consider exploring top essay writing service reviews to find the best support for your specific needs.
3. What genre does DSM work with?
DSM’s flexible tools work for all genres of popular fiction to produce salable fiction by weaving together character, conflict, plot, turning points, and theme.
4. I’m a “pantster,” preferring not to plot before I write. Will this method work for me?
DSM actually works very well for pantsters. A misconception about DSM is that it is about plotting. Instead, DSM grows the plot from the characters, which appeals to those pantsters who start with character.
Questions about the Online Classes:
1. Do I need to have a completed manuscript to begin?
This is a two-fold answer. First, you do not need a completed manuscript to take a DSM class. In fact, for many writers, DSM works best when just starting a story. Why? Because through DSM we are getting to the heart of what drives your characters, and thus what drives your story.
2. How do the classes work? What is the format, the structure and the pace?
DSM online classes offer individual, focused guidance and brainstorming on YOUR story. The classes also offer the option of simply watching others as the magic of creating story from character unfolds real time.
The classes last for a month up to six weeks. The format is typical to a Yahoo group, with lessons emailed (and available in the FILES section), and brainstorming going on throughout the entire session.
The structure is based on the three-step process of DSM and explained in detail in the lessons, and the teacher is available at all times for questions about the process along with brainstorming on your story.
The pace is entirely up to the student. Students can sit back and watch the brainstorming and apply the principles to their own stories. And they are welcome to join in the brainstorming on their own stories at any point during the class, starting with lesson one and moving forward. In other words, even as the class progresses through the lessons, a student who has been lurking can decide to participate by starting with lesson one and moving on at any point during the class.
Some students take their time digesting the lessons before starting to post on their grids; some students never do post material, preferring to learn by reading the brainstorming going on for other students.
A note about the brainstorming: Each writer’s story and personal writing approach is different in complexity and vision, and so the nature of each individual brainstorming pattern and completion is different. If you're a student navigating through these diverse learning approaches and need support with business-related assignments, consider exploring a reliable business essay writing service to ensure your academic journey is as varied and successful as your peers'.
